My first mother's day was absolutely wonderful! Rachel's Grandma and Granddad Terry were here for the weekend for a visit and it worked out very nicely.
Sunday morning I woke up to two of the sweetest cards in the world. One was in Rachel's crib and was from Rachel. On the inside "she" had written:
"Mommy,
Thank you so much for
making my bottles.....
changing my diapers....
giving me baths....
kissing away my tears....
holding me a lot....
rocking me to sleep....
I'm only 5 1/2 months old, but that was longer than I needd to know I've got the best mommy in the world.
I love you,
Rachel"
I cried. Wouldn't you?! (It was Jason who wrote the card, but it was REALLY from Rachel). Then I found another card from Jason that was just as sweet.
His parents took over watching over her at night so we could get some sleep. They also watched her so Jason and I could go to sleep baby Elizabeth (Lizzie) Mac who was born on Saturday. When we returned, they headed home after a wonderful visit.
Mom came over this weekend as well and as a mother's day present she took out the cora bells from our flower bed so I can plant Iris. She's also going to give me starts of Iris from her very own garden. So technically, she's giving me flowers for mother's day!
Jason took me to get sushi for lunch and then to Fry's for a unexpected shopping spree of fun gadgets!
I do enjoy being a mom. And right now we're in that golden stage with Rachel where she's not "talking" and isn't mobile yet. She smiles when we smile and is generally pretty pleasant. And I'm loving every minute.
I love....
How she's starting to hold her hands out in front of her in hopes it lands on something she can touch.
How she's just starting to move her hands where she wants them to, but hasn't quite gotten it mastered yet.
How she'll put her head on my shoulder when I try to burp her and she's too worn out to hold up her head.
How she'll see me and a smile appears on her face.
How she laughs more without so much prompting.
How she likes to caress my hands ever so lightly as I feed her a bottle.
How she'll hear my voice across the room and turn to try to find me.
How she'll coo and "talk" when she hears me talking to her or someone else.
How she calms down at the sight of her daddy and gets a big smile when she sees him.
How she'd rather be in my arms than laying down or sitting up.
How she loves to watch everything I do with intent interest.
How she stretches her arms and legs out and squishes her face when she's waking up.
How she gets excited while laying on the floor and starts breathing and kicking her legs really fast.
How she splashes in the water when she takes a bath.
How beautiful her eyes are that take in everything around her.
How she's just starting to wrap her arms around my neck when I pick her up.
How even though her nose is clogged, the diaper rash keeps coming back, she's sneezing and coughing more than she should, she still loves to smile at us when we see her.
I love being a mother to this adorable kid. So my mother's day was more special than anything to me.
So why not include some pictures?!
This t-shirt came straight from Jamaica from Tommy and Jen. Unfortunately, I shrunk it in the wash, so I could barely get this on her, but at least she's wearing it! And I think she's happy about it too.
Check out this super cute outfit! The pink jacket is actually a zip up hoodie. I apologize, I can't remember who got us this outfit, but I absolutely love it!!! I think she likes it too!
aww! what a sweet card from Rachel (aka Jason). :)
