Third Time's the Charm?

Here we are Round 3. So far, Mommy 0, Diaper Rash 2. Her little bottom just kept getting worse and worse, so after this last round of treatment cured the diaper rash only for it to come back a THIRD time, I called the doctor's office again. I had absolutely no intention of taking her in to be seen, and I'm glad that they weren't wanting to see her again. All I wanted was another method to cure her. This time it was even more odd than before. After much waiting (seriously, like several hours) I was informed by the doctor to keep using the Lotrimin. Add Zinc Oxide to the mix and top it off with Maalox. Wha? Maalox? The Antacid? Yup, that's what she said. She explained that since Rachel's poo has been really runny, it's probably highly acidic because she's been sick, so this will help to keep her soiled mess from eating her bottom skin. I've been using it since we got home and so far she does look better. Now let's hope this is remedy that helps to make the rash go away and STAY away!!

Last night she was "open faced" as I like to call it, without a diaper all night. She fell asleep for the first part of the night in her swing, but once I fed her at around 3:30 AM I put her on the floor.

Tonight I was really aching to sleep in our bed since I haven't for a few days and Jason suggested I set up the pack-n-play (he's out of town this week). We havent' set up the Pack-n-play in quite some time, only because when she was a newborn she hated sleeping it it. I figured it was because it was too cold and harder than her crib. Turns out, she can sleep on the floor and it's much warmer in the house now, so we're trying it tonight so I can sleep in our bed. Right now she's passed out and will hopefully stay that way!

Her cold seems to be getting better. I've done a much better and more diligent job of keeping the vaporizer filled and running when she's home. It seems like she can breathe easier, but that doesn't mean it's going away. I want to say that she sounds better, but I'm not being completely honest when I say that. I feel the treatments we're performing on her both at day care and at home are helping though. As annoying as all of this is I'm refusing to put her on antibiotics because I think everything that's happening to her bothers me more than it does her. And she's so young that she needs to fight what's happening to her so her immune system will get stronger. I truly feel the diaper rash is a result of her being sick, so if we can just get her feeling better the diaper rash will go away! Once again I will state that I am so very thankful I have such a flexible job and she's getting over this crap while I'm able to run her to the doctor and keep her home when necessary.

We go to the doctor on Thursday for her 6 month check up. Diaper rash, cold bug and shots. Does our kid ever catch a break? :o)

Here's some more pictures of her:

A smile!!! This sweet little outfit is from her Grandma Terry. I finally found some pink pants to match it so she can wear it without being too cold. So cute!

Tonight we had visitors that played with her. She's such a happy kid even though she really should be fussy:

This is her Great-Aunt Gail feeding her this evening.

While they were here Rachel started a new guesture. We were sitting eating dinner and had her in the Bumbo seat on the table so we could interact with her. She kept lifting her arms above her head and leaning back as if to say, "I'm SOOOOO Big!"

After they left she played in her exersaucer and oh is that so cute. Dang I wish I could get videos posted up here, but it just doesn't seem to want to work for me. I was on the phone with Jason and she kept spinning the little ball that has plastic toys in it that make noise when it's spun. She likes the noise so she kept doing it and after she'd spin it she'd lean back and lift her arms above her head like she did during dinner and it causes the exersaucer to rock back a bit. She gets so excited that she'll push her feet out and catch the bottom of the exersaucer which also causes her to move about. It's adorable, plain and simple.

So she's asleep in the pack-n-play, sans diaper, (sans clothes actually) covered in one of our old bath towels and hopefully she'll sleep until morning. Fingers are crossed that her little bum clears up and stays gone!!!
